From engineer to artist:
For as long as I can remember, I wanted to create, to become an artist. I was born in Guatemala (August 12th, 1985, in case you’re wondering), and I’m not proud to say it, but I really did not follow my passion from a young age. Music always held my interest in the most powerful of ways, and I was always doodling and sketching on my schoolbooks. My love for art was perhaps too wide, since I can clearly remember wanting to become a famous writer, a famous painter, and a great composer!
Fast forward a few years, and I enrolled in Industrial Engineering as my college degree. I took the safe course, and went for a career which would bring me many employment opportunities, and acquired a nice, useful set of skills and tools. I always had a knack for numbers, physics, financial analysis, so it was a good match (I would have loved to study mathematics, though).
But the artist bug was not done with me. I formed a rock band, then started taking piano lessons, and always kept a journal, where I can now see how deeply I yearned to become an artist.
In 2010 I created my own t-shirt company, and honed my digital marketing skills as well. The t-shirt marketing business tanked, but it left me with the desire to create. Whether it was a funny t-shirt design, or a more serious work of fine art, I realized I wanted to create.
I still create graphic designs, vector art, typographic designs, and more, as you can see from my social media pages (below). They are very influenced by music, geometry, my love for books, and abstract design.
This website, however, is dedicated to my more serious work. In it, I have explored different forms of artmaking:
- Digital Photography.
- Drawings in pencil, charcoal, and ink.
- Paintings in acrylic.
My visual style is evolving, but it features abstract realism and abstract expressionism heavily. I also love to incorporate geometric elements into my pieces. Some other pieces are less abstract and focus on nature, people, music, literature, and other subjects.
You can find my original artwork for sale in the site, as well as prints and products with the images. If you want to browse my lighter, more graphic designs, feel free to explore my social media accounts.
I hope you enjoy my art, and feel free to contact me if you are interested in purchasing one of the pieces from the site.
