Ludwig van Beethoven, the musical genius from Bonn, Germany, was born on 1770. He is one of my favorite composers, and his influence in the development of classical music is immense. Ludwig van Beethoven famously lost his hearing later in life. The great composer was notably hot-tempered and obsessively seeking for perfection in his compositions. For this design, I wanted to create a bold, bright aesthetic to celebrate Beethoven. You will surely notice similar line of design than the one I used when creating my Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart design.
I used bright, bold letters, in neon coloring, over a more sober, darker background. Admittedly, I did not create Beethoven’s portrait. I browsed and found a photograph of the bust of the composer, and used it as the background image. This photograph was later posterized and transformed to grayscale, giving it an edgier, more abstract aesthetic. To create a vertical block, I spread the letters spelling out Ludwig van Beethoven into groups of 3, and colored in Green, Blue and Orange. This is a great gift for classical music lovers, specially fans of Beethoven’s music. I created a variation of this design with a black background, but the image can be placed over any color of your liking. It looks particularly well as a paper product, or on products with a vertical orientation
